Ways to get involved in the diabetes community

If you’re living with diabetes then you know how important it is to have support, especially from people who know exactly what you’re going through. Below are ways to find support both virtually and near Southwest Michigan!

Join Online Diabetes Communities

You can find diabetic support on many social media platforms and here are a couple of ways.

  • Instagram: Go to the search tool and type in words/phrases such as “type 1 diabetic”, “blood sugar management”, or “diabetes nutrition” and find tons of accounts talking about different topics related to diabetes. Be sure to follow MI Life in Numbers diabetic community on Instagram @MILifeinNumbers.

  • Facebook: Go to the Groups tab in the app and use the search tool to find tons of different support groups. Again, use keywords that fit the type of group you are looking for such as “parents of type 1 diabetics”, “diabetes support”, or “newly diagnoses”.  Check out MI Life in Numbers Facebook page for support from our community.

Find Diabetics Near You

Facebook is a great way to find and connect with people in your area. If you go to the Groups tab in the app and search “*your city* diabetes” or “*your region/state* diabetes”. This is a great way to meet other diabetics in person and use the group for support when needed.

Get Involved with our Nonprofit

MLIN offers virtual and in person activities for diabetics in Southwest Michigan. To get involved virtually, learn about becoming a virtual diabetic advocate or attending our empowerment groups.
